Late Summer Decor Tips
Anybody else get the Summertime Burnout? I get it hardcore!! I use to especially get it when my kids were little. We would be so ready for school to get out that when June 1 hit, we would sprint! We were off to playing at the pool, making slip-n-slides every day, going to Little League games or practices and then we always took one big family vacation around the 4th of July. By the time July 15th rolled around, I was TIRED. And a little burnt out. Most of my kids are grown now. (My bonus babies are still little-11 and 12). But I still find myself a little burnt out around this time of year. One thing that has really helped me re-center has been changing up my decor. By switching the interior of my home from the bright colors of early summer to a more neutral palette, I’ve also been able to change the wild, burnout patterns in my brain. I don’t think I’m the only woman who has ever felt this way, so today I wanted to share how these late summer decor tips have helped me fight burnout!
As I already said, neutrals are KING!!!
I work with neutrals a lot anyway, but I really stick to them this in late summer. They are just peaceful and very comforting to me:)
However, neutral rooms do need a little texture.
Add a neutral rug, a basket or a textured pillow! I am loving the textured pillows with fringe right now! Those just scream summer to me:)
Neutrals don’t have to be all one shade though!
Mix up your neutrals by using different shades of the same color. This will help create dimension and give subtle variety. A good example of this is the egg basket featured below. The eggs are all the same “color” but varying shades of that color, and as you can see, it creates lots of dimension within the basket!:)
You can also use architectural pieces to add a little more texture and spice up the room.
I like to use summery pieces like this bee skep and these aged terra cotta pots to do just that:)
I do love some color though…
My garden is in full bloom right now and is VERY colorful. I’m getting all of my color hunger out by sitting beside those:) I have several raised garden beds full of beautiful zinnias right outside my kitchen window (check out the guide for those here!). When I do miss color inside though, I cut a few off and bring them in for a pop of color:)
And this doesn’t have to stick to the indoors!
Add more neutrals in all the places you like to relax. One of my favorite places to relax is on my front porch, so I added some there, too:)
With all the craziness that comes with life, sometimes it’s nice to have small things we can do to help us to remember to center ourselves and relax a little. That’s what these late summer decor tips do for me. I hope that they do the same for you:) But if they don’t, I encourage you to find that thing that does!! Whether it’s a good book, a walk, good food, or a long bath, I hope you find that thing that helps you unwind and recenter yourself in the midst of life. Take care of yourself, friend:)

Oh my gosh I love these photos! I so want to do this but so many of my collections have color. I need to be better about rotating but I donโt have storage for them. Goals.

Thank you, Jane! Storage is SUCH a big part in determining our decor! But I do highly suggest dipping into the neutral colors because they are so versatile I’m sure your decor is already beautiful though

How did I miss this junkin vacation. I would love to do that. Not to many here in NY. If only my hubby would take a ride, but heโs not the type to walk through places like that. I just looked at all this loot. I love it
