How to Decorate Using Vintage Thermoses

I have a big collection!! This isn’t even all of them!!

I am a collector!! My fascination with collecting started when I was very young. I would collect stickers, rocks, arrow heads, little cups and saucers while I was on vacation. As an adult my love for collections collided with my love for decor. It became a style all it’s own.

When I become interested in a certain item the hunt is ON!! I fell in love with Vintage Thermoses a few years ago. At first I thought a few, for a hot cocoa bar, would be fun!! Then I became so interested in all of the different colors and designs I couldn’t stop. Pretty soon the little hot cocoa bar turned into something much bigger!!

For the most part I like to showcase my collections together. At Christmas I do sprinkle a few Thermoses throughout the house though. They are great for hot cocoa bars, open shelves, inside of a hutch, or even a centerpiece display.

My favorite Thermoses are the metal ones but I do have a few plastic ones that were gifted to me. I separated those into their own vignette.

Here (on top) I chose to showcase a matching picnic set I had. On bottom, I used some plastic Thermoses that didn’t exactly match the other larger display.

When it comes to small vignettes I suggest using odd numbers for your display. I did that here for this kitchen table centerpiece. I also like to pull together complimentary colors for smaller vignettes. In the larger collection I try to be careful to spread out the colors throughout the space.

I try to pull together complimentary colors and use odd numbers.

If you happen to find a good deal on a vintage Thermos that’s missing a lid, buy it anyway!! Thermoses make great vases too!!!

No lid!? No problem!!!

Finally, remember that decorating with Thermoses doesn’t have to be limited to Christmas. I use the red ones in my Christmas collection, along with some other blue ones I’ve found, to make 4th of July displays. Also, the brown and green are great for Fall!!!

I hope you find something that peeks your interest and gets you collecting!! Remember: the fun is in the hunt!!!!
