Feed Your Soul
When I was younger I loathed winter. I’m cold natured and love to be outside, so the thought of winter hurt me to my core. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve realized that I should appreciate winter and what it provides for me.
Winter is a time to relax, rest, and rejuvenate. It’s a time to wear comfy clothes and wrap up in cozy blankets. It’s a time to catch up on your reading, or work on your cooking skills. It’s a time to feed the soul!!!
One of my favorite ways to feed my soul is to literally FEED my soul!! I love to work on my cooking skills, finding new recipes, and trying new things. Today I’m sharing a homemade chicken noodle soup recipe with homemade noodles. This recipe was in the Magnolia Table cookbook by Joanna Gaines. I love her cookbooks because, just like her decorating, her style of cooking is basic, simple, and not over the top.
Ingredients for homemade noodles
- 2 1/2 cups AP Flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1/2 cup milk, plus more if needed
Recipe for homemade noodles
Start with a clean work surface. Put down 2 cups of flour. Make a well in the center. Crack two eggs into the center. Add the salt, and milk. Mix with a fork until the dough comes together. Continue kneading with hands to incorporate the flour. If it feels dry, add more milk. If it feels too sticky, add a little flour.
On a lightly floured surface roll dough out into a round that is about 1/8″ thick. Cut dough, with a pizza cutter, into 1″ noodles. Make them about 6″ long. They do not need to be perfect.
Once the noodles have been cut let the dough rest for about 15 mins. Cover the noodles with a damp towel so they don’t dry out.
