Simple and Easy Tray Styling

I am a lover of many things. If you’ve followed me long at all, you know that I LOVE my farm animals, gardening, and a quiet morning with a big cup of coffee. One thing you may not know I love though is trays!!! I LOVE a well styled tray, and I actually get a lot of questions about how to style them. With the change of the season, I thought it would be a perfect time to share how simple and easy tray styling can be! Here are my 5 tips for how to style a tray!:)

1. Pick a theme

As with most things in life, I have to pick a theme before I get started. Whether that’s a party or a gift or decorating a room, picking a theme right at the start will make everything else sssssoooo much easier!! If you have a theme, you can then pick everything from there. Whether that’s a color, a season or an event, picking a theme right from the start will help TREMENDOUSLY.

2. Pick a main item on each shelf of the tray

For each level of the tray, you should pick a central item. Think of each little level as its own little table, and each table needs a centerpiece, right!?

3. Soften it up by adding faux flowers or faux plants

You know that I am a BIG fan of incorporating faux anything into my decor (check out last week’s post about my fall home decor ), but I am especially a fan of incorporating them into my trays! Little fabric flowers (or pumpkins this time of year!) Really soften the look and help to balance the tray. Life is all about balance, right?;)

4. Repeat the items throughout the space

Don’t make this too hard on yourself!! Pick your theme, pick your central piece and then just repeat the other smaller items throughout! I think the biggest pitfall about tray styling is that people think they need a lot of different items; you don’t!! Stick with the same things. Like I said, it makes it easier on you, and also makes the tray less busy. Don’t take away from your central item:)

5. Add in fun touches to accentuate the theme

And last, but certainly not least, add some fun touches!! I suggest taking a step back and making sure that all items are still in line with the theme and then adding some last minute touches to help highlight the theme just a bit more:) If it’s a fall tray, maybe add a pumpkin stem!

And these are my 5 tips for simply and easy tray styling! It’s a lot easier than people make it out to be;) I hope these tips highlighted that and that you can fall in love with trays just like I did:) Happy Styling!!!
