Upcycle With Us!

We’ve all heard of recycling. Many of us probably do it and all of us feel a little guilt when we don’t. But have you ever heard of upcycling?! Upcycling is when you take something a little outdated and update it! You can simply give it a fresh coat of paint or you can completely change its use and convert it into something new; both are an “up”cycle:) Several of my favorite Instagram ladies and I were talking about this fun trend, and we thought it was just the perfect thing to share for Spring! So here are eight of my favorite ladies and the amazing ways they were able to “upcycle” their spring decor this season!

Have you ever checked out Cindy’s blog, Reinvented Delaware?! She is ssssooo sweet and full of the most creative ideas!! She repurposed these old shutters to make a wall sconce light! How cute, right?! Go check out her blog for the tutorial for this upcycle project and more!

This is giving me all the spring vibes!!! Isn’t it just beautiful?! Rachel over at The Ponds Farmhouse has such an eye! She took a 16 unit IKEA storage unit and turned it into this amazing DIY apothecary cabinet!!!! I can’t get enough of this one. Talk about an upcycle!! It’s perfect for storing all your seeds or small tools!

How many of us have old signs lying around that we never use??? I know I have a dozen!! Well, Niky over at The House on Silverado has the PERFECT upcycle for us!!! In this blog post, she shows you how to remove the old letters, re-stain your sign and add the letters you ACTUALLY want!!:)

Wendy over at WM Designhouse is giving me all the garden party vibes!!! Am I the only one who wants to have Easter dinner here!? Believe it or not, those GORGEOUS overhanging lights were actually garden baskets that she upcycled!!! Go check out her blog to see just how she did it!:)

If you saw my new office, you know I am OBSESSED with printer’s drawers right now, and Lora over at lorabloomquist.com is only making me wanna go thrift some more of them!!! She took an old printer’s drawer and repurposed it to make the most unique display piece!! Go check it out at here blog!:)

Anyone else seeing all these vase makeovers lately and wondering how they did that?! Well Michelle over at Thistle Key Lane tells you exactly how to do it! She up cycled some thrifted vases with some regular old craft paint and made these beauties! Go check out her DIY!:)

Updating furniture is something that has always scared me. If it has upholstery, I have always just run the other direction thinking that it was “over my head”. Michelle over at Vintage Home Designs has changed my mind though! She shows how she took this old piece of furniture and easily upcycled it to this create this beauty!!! I might actually venture into upholstery soon!:)

This is TRULY an upgrade!!! Regina over at Saved from Salvage has the most amazing eye!! She took her mom’s old sewing table and repurposed it into this beautiful bar cart!!!! It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, right?;)

This one might look a little familiar…;) This is my kitchen!!! My favorite upcycle project I’ve ever done was the one I did last spring! When I was doing my kitchen sink remodel, I found these old farmhouse posts, cut them in half and stuck them in the little space I had left in between the new farmhouse sink and the cabinets! They fit perfect and just tied everything together:)

So that is all the “upcycled” projects I have for you! I hope they gave you some inspiration! I’d love to hear which one was your favorite and if you used these to create any of your own projects!:)
